Many of us believe it’s faster, easier and tastier to buy food in packages or bottles.
I think you’ll feel differently after you sample this drippy, chocolatey goodness. It takes all of 60 seconds to come together and tastes incredible.
You can drizzle this over crepes, fruit, brownies or any other dessert, but I absolutely adore it over ice cream. That’s because the coconut oil, once it hits the cold, hardens almost instantly and transforms the sauce into a delicious, crunchy chocolate shell.
Oh, and the ice cream underneath the chocolate sauce in the photo? It’s a phenomenal roasted banana ice cream. And it’s one of the recipes in my healthy desserts e-book. Just sayin’.
Quick and Easy Chocolate Sauce
gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, vegan, vegetarian, five ingredients or less
1 tbsp cacao powder
1 heaping tbsp organic coconut oil (I used this one, which was sent to me by the folks at Tropical Traditions)
1 tsp cacao butter, grated (optional)
1/2 tsp maple syrup, or to taste
In a small pot, or in a double boiler, gently melt all the ingredients until smooth.
Serve immediately. Then lick the pot clean.

Awesome!
For an easier clean up and shorter cook time and well, more convenience, you can just melt the coconut oil in the microwave and stir in cocoa powder and sweetener
Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t use my microwave anymore, as I believe it removes some of the nutritional properties of our food. But those that do use microwaves can choose to do so for this recipe.
