Basic Hummus

It’s no secret that I love hummus. Over the years, I’ve shared many variations with you: pizza hummus, guaca-hummus, spicy pumpkin hummus, cauliflower hummus, miso hummus.

But I’ve never shared my simple, basic hummus recipe. I make this all the time and just love it. You can add more flavours if you want, but it’s wonderfully delicious all on its own.

Basic Hummus
Prep time
Total time
gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, egg-free, soy-free, five ingredients or less
Serves: 6 to 8
  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • salt to taste
  1. Dump all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. Add as much water as you need, depending on how creamy you like your hummus.
  2. Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.
